Protect These Wild Lands
One of my favorite things about Desolation is that it’s extremely remote, and one of the least changed sections that Major Powell ran in the 1800’s. There have been some changes in the in the flora, and the craft we’re using, but there’s usually at least once a trip that I think of being one of the first people running the river, having no idea what was coming around the next river bend. It’s a truly awe-inspiring thought to me. I’m glad people charged ahead and explored the area, and I’m glad that people kept going out there and realized that it is actually a fun pastime! I love getting out in the wilderness and I am glad that people are looking to protect these wild lands so generations ahead can come explore and get to have the same experience of looking at the landscapes that Major Powell and generations so far have enjoyed....
