For America's 250th anniversary, we're tracing Chums’ story back to 1983, when a river guide running trips on the Colorado River in Southern Utah devised a simple solution to keep his sunglasses from sinking into the current: a piece of rope that would help them hang on through the rapids. That improvised fix—practical, durable, and born from life on the water—would become the first Chums eyewear retainer.

More than 40 years later, that spirit of practical innovation continues. Come behind the scenes with us to our original factory in Hurricane, Utah, that has remained in operation for over four decades and meet some of the people who power it (a few who have been there almost as long as the building itself).
