Cap Retainer

Your “Hat Retainer” string clip tethers are misnamed. They should be called, “Hat Discarders”. Had they been appropriately named, I’d have reconsidered my investment. My favorite hat is at the bottom of the sea. A second, fallback hat, was narrowly saved when an additional one of your retainers parted. Both instances occurred in moderate conditions. I’ve had many, many hat clips in my life, and your build quality is clearly not intended to preserve or retain hats. They’re so extremely bad, I’m convinced that all of your customer’s hats are in peril. For myself, I would appreciate $45. to replace my hat, and an additional $18. For my investment in two of your faulty string clips. I feel better for having said this, and I hope that you and your customers find this constructive.

Hat retainer broke on first use. Disappointed.

I bought four of these at a sailing outlet because I wanted to have them on the boat, but they all have an assembly flaw that makes them prone to failure. I found this out when my hat flew off and the nylon string pulled free of the retainer clip. The only reason it didn’t go in the water was the string end momentarily hung up on my clothing. Upon inspection, the little pincher tube that is supposed to lock the strings failed because it wasn’t threaded properly. The string is supposed to go in one tube and out the other, with the four tangs pushed inward to secure it. Instead, the tubes were crimped with a string crossing from one to the other, and only one of the tangs was engaging. The retainer design is okay but the flaw was introduced during assembly. Unfortunately all 4 new retainers have this issue. $20+tax down the drain.

This is a great leash for all my hats. Now I don’t have to worry about losing my hats when I’m driving with the top off

I love these, like to keep them on my favorite baseball caps so I just don't have to worry about the wind even when I'm walking the dog. For active sports, they're essential. Just bought a few more for new caps I love. They're simple and reliable.

This item fell apart the very first time I used it. The cord pulled out of the crimp holding it to the clasp.

Good hat retainers are difficult to find with the majority having plastic clips that do not hold well. These have metal clips that insure that you will never lose your hat. Ordered 4 but unfortunately one was broken with the cord separated from the clip. Inexpensive so am not upset. Remainder are still a good deal

I’ve used them for years, given them away, used them to death. They’ve become difficult to find locally. Ordered a wee stockpile.

I was introduced to cap retainers by a sailor. Anyone who wears a hat when it might be windy - sailors, skiers, golfers, boaters, vacationers, hikers - needs to own some of these reasonably priced, well made cap savers!

Cap retainer works excellent, I drive a Jeep with no roof no doors keeps control of my hat..love it!

I live in the mountains, and gusty winds can blow a hat right off your head. Had quite a search to find this item that I knew existed, but once I found it, my cap retainer has lived on my hat, so it's always available. Just bought one for each of my hiking buddies.

I bought several of the Cap-retainers many years ago (at a Gander Mountain, I think). Ever since that time, one has been on my sun cap (with a very wide brim) ; and has preserved it for me so many times. I’ve given several away, when people have commented on how great mine was.
They’ve also kept grandchildren’s sweaters and jackets from falling off and getting lost; and kept my canvas bags together on outings, as well as lots of other uses. That’s why I just bought a bunch more. They are made well; and are so handy to have around!
