Whoops!
Broke in a gust…bad assembly quality?

I bought four of these at a sailing outlet because I wanted to have them on the boat, but they all have an assembly flaw that makes them prone to failure. I found this out when my hat flew off and the nylon string pulled free of the retainer clip. The only reason it didn’t go in the water was the string end momentarily hung up on my clothing. Upon inspection, the little pincher tube that is supposed to lock the strings failed because it wasn’t threaded properly. The string is supposed to go in one tube and out the other, with the four tangs pushed inward to secure it. Instead, the tubes were crimped with a string crossing from one to the other, and only one of the tangs was engaging. The retainer design is okay but the flaw was introduced during assembly. Unfortunately all 4 new retainers have this issue. $20+tax down the drain.

Does the job so well!

I love these, like to keep them on my favorite baseball caps so I just don't have to worry about the wind even when I'm walking the dog. For active sports, they're essential. Just bought a few more for new caps I love. They're simple and reliable.

Broke on first use!

This item fell apart the very first time I used it. The cord pulled out of the crimp holding it to the clasp.
